If you’re on TikTok, you’ve probably seen the two ingredient bagel bites basically all over the place. So obviously I had to make a gluten free version!

They have a delicious crispy outer crust, soft and fluffy center and are perfect as is or with cream cheese on top. Plus, they take just 15 minutes to prep! If you love this recipe, try my gluten free focaccia or fan favorite gluten free banana bread next.

Before we get started…

  • I used the Bob’s Red Mill gluten free bread mix/flour here, but I have also tested these with just regular gluten free all purpose baking flour and both work well!
  • If you aren’t into everything bagel seasoning, you can leave these plain, use sesame seeds, poppy seeds etc.

How to make air fryer bagel bites

In a mixing bowl, combine the flour (making sure to spoon and level to measure) , brown sugar, yeast, baking powder and salt. Whisk to combine.

Add in the greek yogurt and mix with a rubber spatula, then use your hands to fully combine. It helps to lightly grease your hands as it get sticky!

dry ingredients in a bowl

Preheat your air fryer to 350 Fahrenheit. Roll the dough into 8 even sized balls.

Brush a bit of melted butter on top, then roll in the everything bagel seasoning. You can also use poppy seeds, sesame seeds or leave them plain with a bit of butter and salt.

bagel dough in a bowl

Add to your preheated air fryer and air fry for 10-12 minutes.

Remove and let cool for about 15-20 minutes. Cooling is important here as it helps the texture set. Enjoy as is or serve with cream cheese, butter, jam etc!

Key ingredients and swaps

Flour. I used the Bob’s Red Mill gluten free bread flour which I also use my gluten free bagels and gluten free cinnamon rolls. You can use regular gluten free all purpose baking flour here instead – both work well!

Almond flour, oat flour or coconut flour will NOT work here! You must use either a bread flour or gluten free baking flour.

Greek Yogurt. There unfortunately is no good sub as greek yogurt is kind of the star of the show here! Because we are removing the gluten (which is the protein found in wheat, barely and rye), we need a different protein source to help give these bagel bites a nice texture.

I suggest plain, full fat greek yogurt for best results.

Yeast. A little bit of instant yeast will help fluff up these bagel bites and also help give them a more classic bagel flavor.

Sugar. Just a touch of brown sugar will sweeten the bites and also act as food for the yeast so it activates properly.

Baking powder. Because we aren’t letting the dough rise, the yeast will only do so much so the extra baking powder is key for a fluffy texture!

Stuff with cream cheese!

I opted to keep these unstuffed, but a delicious option is to add about a teaspoon of cream cheese (from a block not a tub) to the center of the dough and roll it around that.

That way when you bite into it, the cream cheese is already there! I also love adding in chopped chives to the dough for extra flavor.

How to store

These gluten free everything bagel bites are definitely best served fresh and can get a bit dry if left out for too long. What I like to do is let them cool, store in an air tight container, then air fry for just a couple minutes to get them warm in the center and fluffed up a bit!

You can also freeze these! They arguably do better with freezing than sitting at room temperature. Just let them cool completely, transfer to a freezer safe bag and freeze for up to 1 month. Reheat in the air fryer until warm through the center.
